The Leadership team reached out to Unleash to assist in developing and implementing a tailored leadership track for Middle Managers KYC (Know Your Customer). We sought a partner who could collaborate with us to create a program that would meet the specific needs of Rabobank. By starting with middle managers, our aim was to initiate a culture and behavior change that would not only benefit this group but also impact their managers (senior management) and team leaders.

Unleash delivered a robust concept, rooted in Theory U, which not only met our expectations but also resonated with our organization, leading to broader interest within Rabobank for similar initiatives. Personal leadership development takes place within small homegroups, fostering psychological safety and optimal learning from peers. On an organizational level, larger basecamps provide opportunities for participants to engage in activities such as prototyping, storytelling, and skills workshops, encouraging collaboration within the chain. Additionally, group experiments (field labs) are conducted to tackle and solve complex problems collectively.

I got to know Unleash through a culture and leadership program organized for the CEOs (26) of various country organizations within Fairtrade International. During the program, Coen adeptly addressed different cultural aspects and backgrounds. Within the group, building trust was a challenge, and there were some 'elephants in the room'. Coen used various techniques and interventions to address difficult issues in a light, non-threatening, and sometimes even humorous manner, laying the groundwork for solutions. Even now, many years later, the workshops are still referred to.

From the international program, Coen translated the experience into a culture development program for the Fairtrade Netherlands team. In this program, team members gained insight into their own and each other's talents, qualities, and motivations. Specific cultural barriers were identified, and Coen, for example, used the drama triangle to help people understand their own role in finding solutions. This was implemented at all levels of the organization, from secretary to management team.

As the director of the organization, what I particularly appreciate about working with Coen is his openness and creativity in shaping the program to fit our organization, addressing problems, and tailoring it to our needs. He manages to gain the trust of all team members, which has truly propelled us forward in the entire process.

Unleash played a crucial role in transforming a program on cooperative leadership, originally designed for a broad audience of managers within Rabobank, into an impactful 8-day (4x2 days) program focused on building meaningful customer relationships based on personal and societal connections. The adaptation of this program was achieved through close collaboration with Unleash, who intuitively understood our objectives and provided the necessary support and guidance within the parameters and direction we set. I found this co-creation process to be extremely gratifying.

We outlined the program broadly beforehand and determined the specific components for each session, but what was particularly appreciated by the group of participants was the program's adaptability to their needs throughout the days. This flexibility, I believe, is one of Unleash's strengths.

Another aspect that I found powerful is Unleash's ability to seamlessly transition between addressing group dynamics and focusing on individual elements. This approach strengthens both the group as a whole and enables individual participants to undergo personal development.
